It all begins with an idea…
Design ideas for custom ironwork can come from a variety of places. Sometimes they come from a simple discussion about the project with the client and other times, they can present themselves while the artist is in his studio or home. Each project presents its own set of challenges that get worked out during the initial design phase.
THE FIRST STEP in commissioning a project is to discuss the project’s needs and any limitations it may present. This would also include discussing any budget flexibilities or constraints that will determine the addition or subtraction of certain project detailing. This doesn’t necessarily mean the project will be on the top end of the budget because most times, simple is often better. A rough idea of cost will be provided.
